Professor Blanca Rodriguez on how computer models can replace animal research

Professor Blanca Rodriguez (Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford) tells us about her work in the Computational Cardiovascular team, developing computer models of the human heart with the potential to replace animal experiments. Using funding from the NC3Rs, she works with academic and industry partners to disseminate these models.

Learn more about this year's prize at https://nc3rs.org.uk/3rsprize – the deadline to apply is 4pm (GMT) on Friday 6 March. The National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement & Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs) is an independent scientific organisation. Tasked by Government, we support the UK science base by driving and funding innovation and technological developments that replace or reduce the need for animals in research and testing, and lead to refinements in welfare where animals continue to be used.
